Hardware — PCI cards - Platform: Macintosh - Price: 90 DKK
PC Compatibility Card with a 166 MHz Pentium processor. This card, one of Apple's great engineering achievements, was produced in 1997, and the last of Apple's line of DOS and PC Compatibility Cards. Onboard RAM is 8 MB, but when I bought it in 2001, there were added another 32 MB RAM, which I have upgraded with a 64 MB DIMM. The PC Compatibility Card is a 12 inch wide PCI card to reside in the PCI slot closest to the Power Mac's processor.
The card was originally in my Power Macintosh 8600 when it left the vendor in 1997. I am selling it because it is not compatible with my McAlley USB PCI card.
The PC Compatibility Card lets you use DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 3.11, Windows for Workgroups, and Windows 95 applications directly on you Macintosh computer.
With a PC Compatibility Card, you can:
PCI based Power Macintosh, i.e., Power Macintosh 4400, 7200, 7220, 7300, 7500, 7600, 8200, 8500, 8600, 9500, 9600. In theory, a clone thereof or a Macintosh G3 (beige) should also work with the card.
Macintosh Operating System 7.5.3 until 9.1.
The hardware is sold as is. Since it was already installed in the Macintosh at the time it was handed over the desk, I cannot ship it in the original package.
Original price: around 4000 DKK in 1997.
