Ecotourism on Kamtchatka, Russia, 2004

A long preparation fase is coming to an end through the last days of July till the end of the first decade of August 2004. TGK Consult will be leading a tourist group from Denmark to various locations on the Kamtchatkan Peninsula.

The focus of the travel is ecological tourism, i.e., tourism on more or less the same conditions as the ones that indigenous peoples live under. The group arrives to the airport of Latch on July 27 and will stay on Kamtchatka till August 8, 2004. Already the day after the arrival, the group will be connected to two local families which will accomodate the tourists in their homes in the village Kovran. The tourists will participate in the normal activities of the families, such as picking berries and mushrooms, going fishing with traditional tools. They will even try out the banya, the Russian pendent to the Finnish sauna and camp outdoors.

Other locations visited include Ust'-Haryuzovo, Yelizovo, Avachin Vulcano, Verblyuzha Mountains, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, Avachin Bay.
