Indigenous Peoples' Secretariat (IPS) and NGOs connected to the Arctic

The environmental support for the indigenous peoples in the Arctic comprises grants to the involvement of indigenous peoples in international environmental cooperation as well as support to concrete projects. Grant-in-aid is given, e.g., for projects that support the indigenous peoples of the Arctic areas of Russia in their efforts to obtain a tolerable environment.

Moreover, there is given support to the maintainance of the IPS. The secretariat aims at involving and supporting the organisations of the indigenous peoples in the Arctic environmental cooperation. The organisations are ICC, Same Rådet, RAIPON, AIA, Athabaskans, and Gwichin.

Aid is given to NGO's connected to the Arctic to promote a sustainable development as well as preserving the nature and environment. There is a special emphasis on supporting a sustainable development of the indigenous peoples of Russia.
