Thomas G. Køhler is a graduate in East European studies, specialised on Russia, and focusing on politology. Even as an undergraduate, he was employed in the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was dealing with NGO development projects in Latin America. Later, he worked as a travel agent and was attached to the Arctic Council. Thomas founded TGK Consult in 1999 with the view that he could carry out development projects with the same efficiency as non-governmental organisations. Whereas NGOs have the good intentions and idealism, Thomas has the additional professionalism derived from his education and working experience. However, he does not consider them as rivals. The more diversity in development aid, the better are the chances for success. There should be room enough for both government agencies, NGOs, and entrepenours like TGK Consult, is Thomas' view. CV

Erik is a graduate of Balkanistics and Russian philology from the University of Copenhagen, but also did studies in Bulgarian, Macedonian, Portuguese, and journalism at other schools and universities. He has a long experience as interpreter in Russian and Balkan Slavic languages, and has also made research in these languages. While a student, Erik was engaged with student politics on a local and national level and had international issues in his portfolio.
Thomas hired Erik in the beginning of 2004 to deal with financial supervision, accountancy, web site development, and other issues in order to lift some of the administrative burdens that had piled up in TGK Consult. I hate screen work. Do it for me, Erik! was Thomas' point. Erik was a room mate of Thomas through 1997-2000 and had thus been closely following Thomas' transition from government official, to travel agent and assistant in the Arctic Council until the start-up of TGK Consult.
